Joan of Arc
Born 1412
Faithful to Charles VII and to the voices which guided her, Joan entered the city of Orléans on 29 April 1429 at the head of the royal army. She then launched her Loire campaign, during the course of which she liberated the fortified towns of Jargeau, Meung-sur-Loire and Beaugency.
The echoes of the steps of Joan of Arc - who set off from here to reconquer the kingdom of France - still ring throughout the historic country of Loiret.
